George Long is the cover design artist behind Chronicles of the Grim Reaper: Volume 1. We connected through Reedsy, and from the outset, George approached the project with a deep respect for the stories and a clear understanding that the cover needed to do more than look beautiful—it needed to establish the emotional and visual identity of the series.
Working with George was a thoughtful and collaborative experience. He took the time to listen closely, ask meaningful questions, and translate abstract themes into a strong, resonant visual presence. His sensitivity to tone, atmosphere, and balance resulted in a cover that feels timeless and intentional—one that invites readers in while honoring the depth and quiet gravity of the stories within.
The Volume I cover has been widely praised and remains one of the most recognizable and commented-on elements of the book. It became a visual anchor for the series, helping to shape the first impression readers carry with them before they ever turn the page. That cover went on to be part of a book that received three major literary awards: the International Impact Book Award, The BookFest Award (First Place, Short Stories), and the Independent Press Award (Winner, Anthology).
I am incredibly proud of what we created together. George’s work did not simply represent the book—it elevated it. His contribution was instrumental in how Chronicles of the Grim Reaper: Volume 1 was received, remembered, and recognized, and I am deeply grateful for the care and artistry he brought to this project.
